Sustainability |
What is sustainable development?'development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs' This was the definition of sustainable development produced by the World Commission on Environment and Development in the Brundtland Report in 1987. Since then awareness and understanding of sustainable development has become a vital issue to organisations all around the world. In 2005, the UK government produced its sustainable development strategy, 'Securing the Future', which includes five principles to underpin how sustainable development will be pursued throughout the UK.
What does sustainable development mean to Triteq? Triteq was formed in 1992 and is still managed by our founders. Our principles have always been to apply our expertise in design technology to develop and deliver market leading products that add key benefits and lasting value for our clients. Whilst we have always worked with awareness of our impact, environmentally and socially now, in 2011, we have made a commitment to communicate our actions and activities in a clear and measurable sustainable development strategy so that we can demonstrate our engagement, measure our results and report on our achievements. We appreciate that to be effective, we need to get everyone at Triteq involved- so we are also introducing the Annual Triteq Employee Achievement Award, nominations will be announced in December 2011 and the inaugural Award will be presented in February 2012. |
